These ministers of hospitality assist at all weekend, Holy Day, Holiday and special event Masses.
The responibilities of the Ushers include:
Meet and greet all parishioners and visitors - A friendly welcome is one of the most important aspects of their ministry.
Assist the elderly attendees and anyone with special needs, including the distribution of the Eucharist in their pew.
Being aware of safety issues; emergency numbers, emergency exits, restroom and AED locations...taking the lead in case of any emergency.
Make sure all attendees are seated when possible, including the late comers.
Select members of the congregation to bring up the gifts.
Collect and secure the weekly collection.
Assist and facilitate in the orderly distribution of Holy Communion.
Distribute the weekly bulletin after Masses, and send all Mass attendees home with a smile and a friendly word or two....
