RENEW AND REBUILD UPDATE
[Aug 12, 2018] On a special note, we have been successful in acquiring a number of MATCHING GRANTS from parishioners who work for companies with matching grant programs. This results in “found money” for our parish. Business men and women are asked to please see if your companies have such a program. If so, we would be very glad to work with you in applying for a matching grant.

RENEW AND REBUILD CAMPAIGN
[9/10/2017] We will soon be concluding the solicitation phase of our parish Renew & Rebuild Campaign. We are very grateful to all of you who have stepped up to support our parish campaign and me, your pastor, by sending in your gifts and pledges. Because of your financial sacrifices, we should be in a good position to move forward with the capital projects we outlined in the printed material we distributed. We will, of course, begin with the installation of a new Air Conditioning and Heating system. As most of you now know, our old system has now broken down and, except for the fans, is out of service.
If you have not yet gotten around to sending us your gift or pledge, and would still like to support our parish campaign, we ask that you please send in your gift or pledge this week. You may either mail it in or else drop it into the basket at Sunday mass.
It would be wonderful if the business men and women among us would investigate if their companies offered MARCHING GRANTS for charitable or not for profit projects such as ours.
Again, your financial sacrifices are greatly appreciated by me, your pastor and your entire parish family will benefit greatly through your generous gifts and the ongoing redemption of your long term pledges.
Prayerfully in Christ,
Msgr. Emmet Nevin

[8/22/2017] I anticipate that our first and most urgent project, the complete replacement of our Church heating and air conditioning system will be scheduled for the early Fall. As many of you know, first hand, we have been encountering a number of costly breakdowns over the past few weeks. Thank goodness last weekend wasn’t a scorcher as the Church was struggling to cool down with just one functioning condenser unit. Thank you for your patience.
Regarding the R & R campaign – again, many thanks to all of you who have, thus far, committed yourselves to our parish capital campaign. Your financial sacrifices are greatly appreciated by me, your pastor. Your entire parish family will benefit greatly through your gifts and the ongoing redemption of your long term pledges.
Please do not hesitate to request a personal meeting with either myself or Deacon Jim Maher. Our time is your time and we would be very happy to answer any questions you may have about your gift or pledge. On Commitment Sunday, a number of you indicated that you were still praying on your commitment. Now, six weeks later, I have asked the members of our campaign committee to join Deacon Maher and me in contacting you about what you may be able to do for our five year Renew and Rebuild capital campaign.
Please remember that these callers are your fellow parishioners who have been working tirelessly with Deacon Jim and me for the good of our beautiful parish. I ask that you please give our caller a polite hearing whatever your final decision may be.
Thank you and God bless you.
Prayerfully in Christ,
Msgr. Emmet Nevin
[8/1/2017]
This weekend, at all of our parish Masses, our pastor, Msgr. Emmet Nevin publically announced this important Capital Campaign to the entire parish. Some of you may have heard about how this campaign has met with great success in a number of our other Rockland parishes such as St. Augustine (New City), St. Gregory (Garnerville) and St. Joseph (Spring Valley). They ran their campaigns last year and met with overwhelming success.
You may also have heard about our introductory phase which we have been running here at Saint Aedan’s for the past couple of months. We are pleased to report that this early phase of our parish campaign has met with great success due to the sacrificial pledges of just a handful of our parishioners.
Now, we are securely positioned to move forward to the parish, at large, in order to invite everyone to participate in this very exciting, as well as ambitious undertaking.
This is an Archdiocesan-wide undertaking involving all 295 of our parishes; scheduled in blocks over a four year campaign. We are block-two along with Saint Anthony’s (Nanuet), Immaculate Conception (Stony Point) and Saint John’s (Piermont). Every parish has been assigned its overall goal calculated on a formula based on its annual income. You may recall that you did not receive a Cardinal’s Appeal solicitation this year? That is because, we, like most parishes, opted to combine the Appeal in with our Renew and Rebuild campaign in order to run just one single campaign this year.
Please look-over the color brochure which was enclosed with this week’s bulletin - which can also be found in the column to the right - in order to read up on the details of our parish campaign. It is well written and very informative. Some of you may have already received some materials in the mail. Others of you may receive a mailing within the next few days. Please know that, at this time, we are not asking you to sit down and write out a check. We are asking you to study our request very carefully and, after prayerful consideration and, of course, based on your own personal financial situation, make a sacrificial pledge over the next five years. As he has already done with some of you, Msgr. Nevin would be very happy to schedule an appointment in order to personally discuss the campaign with you and answer any questions you may have.
The parish would be very grateful to receive your pledge forms mailed back within a week or so. Otherwise, you may wish to bring them within you to Mass on Commitment Weekend, June 24th-25th. At that time, Msgr. Nevin will share an update on the campaign and pledge cards may be placed in the baskets as they are passed around at the usual time. In conclusion, this is a very important campaign for Saint Aedan, our spiritual home. We are really counting on the participation and financial sacrifices of every family whose financial means will allow them to get involved. Let us, together, shout out to everyone in the Archdiocese that Saint Aedan is alive and well and growing stronger with new registrations, and that we are united in our enthusiasm, devotion and love of a parish which we want to be recognized as strong, thriving and independent into the future.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration of the financial sacrifices you are being asked to make on behalf of the parish we care so deeply about.
God bless you and Saint Aedan, pray for us.
