SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1ST – 12 PM A Blue Mass is a Mass celebrated for those employed in the “public safety field” (i.e. police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, 911 operators and EMS personnel).
We are happy - PROUD - to announce that the (corrected) number of donors/pints for the event held last Sunday was a very impressive 65!! While an additional seven folks were defered for varous medical reasons, we also had six generous folks who gave double red cell units on the ALYX machines (each counts as 2). The important thing to remember is that each pint can reach three patients in need...that makes 195 people touched directly by these simple acts of kindness! Kudos. This is a tough time for the blood supply. It is notoriously low for the summer, end of summer... fortunately, the disaster in Texas hasn't required a huge amount of blood, "Thank God!" However, if it had... things would be much different. If you didn't make it to the donation in the gym this week, consider making the effort to go to either another local event or one of the lovely donation centers in the county. More information can be obtained from the NY Blood Center folks at: http://www.nybloodcenter.org/.
“We’re out for your blood” Please give it up for our parish blood drive which will be held on Sunday, August 27th from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM. All blood types are needed. Platelet donors count as a double donation. First time donors are most welcome!
