The Choir is a spirit-based ministry whose mission is to offer instrumental and vocal music to heighten the beauty, love and appreciation of scripture, the Mass, and other Church ceremonies. Music as part of the Mass goes back centuries. Under the direction of our maestro, Mr. Matthew Surapine, St. Aedan’s has Adult and Children’s Choirs. The choirs perform great Church music, from ancient chants to modern selections. The Children’s Choir sings at the 10 am Sunday Mass. The Adult Choir sings at the 12 pm Sunday Mass.
The choirs also perform at Holydays, Tridium services, Easter, Christmas, First Communions, Confirmations, funeral Masses, and, recently, Fr. Ryan Muldoon’s First Mass. Rehearsals for the Children’s Choir are before the 10 am Mass and for the Adult Choir are Sunday at 11 am. Rehearsals are also held for any special services. In addition, three popular St. Aedan’s concerts with eclectic and exciting programs have been offered to and well received by parishioners.
This ministry is open to children and to men and women, of all ages. This is a group of music loving, fun loving individuals who enjoy the friendship and camaraderie of singing together, with a willingness to develop and expand their vocal range. If you can speak, you can sing!
