The Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist distribute Communion at the daily, Sunday and Holy Day Masses. Ministers are scheduled for the Sunday and Holy Day Masses. Eucharistic Ministers are approved and mandated into this Ministry by the Pastor.
The Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist - Homebound - The Eucharistic Ministry to the Homebound is a spirit-based ministry that gives comfort to those who are ill and unable to attend Church. We provide the homebound parishioners, or those in nursing homes with a short prayer service and Holy Communion.
We also bring the bulletin and other Church handouts to help make them feel connected to St. Aedan’s and that the people of St. Aedan’s care about and remember them. To become a minister to the homebound, you must first go through the program to become a Eucharistic Minister and then meet with the homebound coordinator to discuss the responsibilities. The coordinator will go with you for your first visit and until you feel comfortable going on your own. A requirement of this ministry is to make a commitment to visit your assigned home bound person(s) once a week.
If you have questions or need further information about becoming part of this ministry, or if someone you know would like a visit, please contact Rita Mary Reers at [email protected].
Each Sunday, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are deputed to bring the Holy Eucharist to the homebound and both Nyack Manor and Tolstoy nursing facilities. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered at Nyack Manor every Wednesday at 10:30 am and at Tolstoy at 10:30 am on the Last Friday of each month. Holy Communion is brought by a priest to those confined to their rooms.
Please, inform the Parish House [(845) 735-7405] if a family member of friend has been recently admitted to these places.
