Because of your support of the Cardinal's Appeal we [the Archdiocese] are in a position to do immense good in many areas of concern.
We are able to sustain numerous charitable offices, agencies, and programs to provide compassionate and effective assistance to those most in need.
We are able to offer financial support to our parishes and schools that are struggling to serve people of all backgrounds in distressed communities.
We are able to ensure excellent academic and spiritual formation in our schools, and the best of catechetical training in our parishes.
And finally, we are able to care for our retired clergy and religious who have given their lives in service of the Church and to prepare our future clergy who will give theirs in the years to come.
This year’s Cardinal’s Stewardship Appeal has now begun. Those of us who have already received our letters in the mail realize the importance of making a sacrificial gift to this vital campaign which supports, among other things, the dignified retirement of our elderly priests, who have given us the best years of their lives; the faith formation of our beautiful public and Catholic school children and the Seminary training of our future priests like Father Ryan Muldoon. Last but certainly not least, our sacrificial donations enable our Church, each year, to respond, in your name, to the often-heartrending needs of the poor and helpless of our Archdiocese in their time of need. These needy men, women and children are really Jesus in the flesh, knocking on the doors of our hearts and pleading for our merciful and generous help.
As I announce this year’s parish goal of $95,000.00, I am, of course, both mindful and also very grateful for the long-term pledges some of you have made to the special Renew and Rebuild Campaign we ran four years ago. Believe me, your sacrifices have helped us to bring about some wonderful changes in our Parish and still more are yet to come. However, the annual Cardinal’s Stewardship Campaign is what provides the Annual Funding our Archdiocese needs in order to support the programs and services I listed above.
Every year, fresh funding is needed in order to enable these programs to accomplish their vital work for yet another year. The cycle of asking never ends because the cycle of needs never ends, especially during this seemingly endless pandemic and the high unemployment rate and financial hardships facing so many of our brothers and sisters.
Thank you for stepping up and doing your part in helping our beautiful Parish of Saint Aedan to be a leader in this year’s Cardinal’s Stewardship Campaign. May God bless you and your loved ones throughout this New Year. “Whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, that you do unto me.”
Msgr.
Your financial sacrifice is what funds the vital work of the Archdiocese with Catholic Charities; Catholic Schools; Religious Education programs for our public school children; Seminary Training for our future priests; dignified retirement for our aged priests and religious and so many more programs which help all of us to respond to Christ who is present in our brothers and sisters around the Archdiocese. If you have not yet done so, please return your pledge card this week.
“When I was hungry, when I was thirsty, when I was naked, when I was ill……
That you did unto me.”
